Thoughts on God-Talk

This morning an interesting article on the Opinion page of New York Times came across my screen. Its a terrific article by Stanley Fish on the whole issue of religion in the modern world which attempts to answer the question, “Why are the most unlikely people, including myself, suddenly talking about God?” After an exploration of answers from many perspective, the conclusion is that modern men and women are suddenly awakening from their blind-faith in modern liberalism and science as a form of superstition just as real as is believed to be a part of religion.

Well, this seems simple enough to most of us reading this page..but for Stanley..welcome to Awakening!

Last weekend I attended a conference by Richard Rohr and Joan Chittister. The gathering of nearly a thousand was ecumenical, although sadly, the mean age was well over 50. Still, I was grateful to the One for this gathering...other seekers of Wisdom, a calling of brothers and sisters to something bigger than self.

Whether one chooses to recognize Presence calling, Is-ness is always there tapping on our shoulders. Apparently, Stanley (as each of us) reflects the wisdom of Thomas 2 -- seeking and finding, being troubled and then being filled with wonder!
